Can you find out the growth in MBA degrees granted annually in the US
since about 1975? I don't need the number for each year, just
beginning (any year between 1970 and 1980) and recent; maybe a year or
two in between.

Hello, and thank you for your question.

The number of MBA degrees awarded in the United States has been
reaching record highs for decades, according to the AACSB, or
Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business
(http://www.aacsb.edu).

For the definitive numbers, the National Center for Education
Statistics has prepared the table entitled "Earned degrees in business
conferred by degree-granting institutions, by level of degree and sex
of student: 1955-56 to 1999-2000." These are the numbers referenced
by the AACSB when they refer to numbers of MBA's awarded, even though
"MBA" does not appear in the title of the report. I will list the
years you require (1975-present) in 5-year increments here for you,
but you can view or download the entire table in Excel, Lotus, or PDF
format from the National Center for Education Statistics' web site,
linked below.

Year Total Master's Degrees
           Awarded for Business
---------------------------------
1974-75 35,758
1979-80 54,484
1984-85 66,996
1989-90 76,676
1994-95 93,809
1999-2000 112,258

From 1975 to 2000, there has been a 310% increase in MBA degrees
awarded in the US.

"Table 284. Earned degrees in business conferred by degree-granting
institutions, by level of degree and sex of student: 1955-56 to
1999-2000" (NCES, Aug 2001)

Search strategy:

Google search: "number of MBA" degrees ("united states" | US)
National Center for Education Statistics table search: "business"

I hope this answers your question. Please do not hesitate to ask for
clarification if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!
