cgreen23.. Thank you for your question. In 1960, the GDP was $527.4 billion and exports made up 4.9% of the GDP while imports made up 4.40%. In 1970, the GDP was $1.04 trillion and exports rose to 5.6% while imports went up to 5.52% of the GDP. For your reference, here are some more export/import percentages as they relate to GDP: 1980: GDP: $2.795 trillion Export: 10.31% Import: 10.85% 1990: GDP: $5.803 trillion Export: 10.04% Import: 11.33% You can get some very detailed information regarding GDP break outs and percentages at the Bureau of Economic Analysis at http://www.bea.gov/ Thanks again for your question.
