Why do Nascar drivers always go toward the left (counter-clockwise)
around race tracks/ovals each race? In other words, why don't they
alternate going to the left one race and to the right another race?
The answer apparently has to do with the famous filmmaker Oliver
Stone and some sort of conspiracy. Please find an answer relating to Oliver Stone.

dan723..

Oliver Stone was born in 1946. NASCAR was founded in 1948. I don't
think Oliver Stone has anything to do with the layout of NASCAR tracks
and the races.

"NASCAR TELLS US AUTO RACETRACKS WERE SET UP COUNTERCLOCKWISE IN THE
TRADITION OF HORSE RACING, AND THE THOROUGHBRED RACING ASSOCIATION
SAYS AMERICAN RACETRACKS WERE FIRST SET COUNTERCLOCKWISE IN 1780
BECAUSE AMERICAN BREEDERS WERE STILL ANGRY AT THE BRITISH, WHOSE HORSE
RACING TRACKS RAN CLOCKWISE."

It really has nothing to do with Oliver Stone. Nascar told me that
because in the tradition of horse racing that they set up counter
clockwise first in 1780 because American horse breeders were still mad
at the british, whose horse races were set up clockwise.
