Question ID: 142249
I am looking for manufacturers of pre-engineered and factory build
bridges in california. I have a span of 10'(from bank to bank) over a
winter creek. The planning department wants me to use a bridge vs.
culverts. I would like something esthetic that could carry auto's up
to the size of a small fire truck. The width of the bridge would be
10'.

would prefer california or a manufacturer in the western USA.

Here are the resources you requested. The
Architectural/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) community uses a
universal specification index managed by the Construction
Specifications Institute (http://www.csinet.org/ ). The specification
division that pertains to you is ‘02850 Prefabricated Bridges’. I
searched SpecSource.com (http://www.specsource.com) for Manufacturers,
Distributors, and Sales Representatives in California.

I also came across this site: http://www.skipgibbs.com/

Skip Gibbs, the president of Skip Gibbs Company, Inc. founded this
entrepreneurial venture based upon his personal need for a durable,
simple, cost-effective bridge solution to service his residence on the
far side of Scotts Creek, which floods annually, in rural Northern
California. (Sound familiar?)

I didn’t address the exact specifications as of 10’L x 10’W and load
as I'm sure the companies can handle the requirements. As for
aesthetics, the Skip Gibbs Company has a nice product were the "steel
will naturally oxidize to a dark rust color and remain so providing an
inconspicuous addition to the landscape".

Make sure you get at least 3 comparable quotes! You may need to
produce some simple shop drawings. Talk with vendors first to get an
idea of who is providing what (i.e. engineered drawings for the plan
review, concrete foundation, etc.) and then present them all with an
identical proposal. Make sure they include pricing on everything you
requested. Don’t forget shipping.

Have fun with the project and stay dry!
