The earliest mention of it I can find is April 27, 1995 at:

but whether this is the first "publication" of it or not...who knows!

After sifting through dozens of copies on the Internet (all without
any citation or reference to any original publication), and searching
online magazine indices, and reading 4 biographies listing all known
works by him, I came up with absolutely nothing. It is highly likely
that the piece was not really written by Denis Leary.

He wrote articles for various periodicals, but if this is one of them,
it's not showing up in some of the standard indexes.

This fan site indicates that "Are You Man Enough" was published in
either Playboy or New York Magazine.
