Hi, christianh --

Do you know the artist of the engraving? That might help in identifying the person.

Thanks!

hi saxifrage,

all I have is the jpg-file, no artist, no date, nothing, sorry..

Even "1800", "Europe" and "Germany" are assumptions I got from someone
kind of an expert, but even this is unclear.

Regards and thank you for your interest in trying to help me!

I reveived more information about the unknown woman:

a camera picture of this etching was part of the bequest and estate of
Arthur and Angelika Hübscher. From 1937 to 1983 Arthur Hübscher was
president of the Schopenhauer society (Arthur Schopenhauer, German
philosoph, 1788-1860), Angelika and Arthur Hübscher have both
published several books about Schopenhauer.

more information may be found here:

Mayb the picture has something to do with Arthur Schopenhauer.
