I need to find a one-way fare from Prague to Amsterdam on Jan. 26. I
was told to book on Czech Air but it would not allow me to book a
one-way flight. Where can I find an airline that can book a one-way
flight from Prague to Amsterdam for a reasonable fare ($200 US or
less)?

Maybe this will help. A friend sent me this note:

there's this service where you, as an american, can
buy one-way intra-european segments for an equivalent
to $99 per segment. i tried lookin round, but i can't
find it.

Also, Czech Air is featuring a special on round-trip tickets from
Amsterdam to Prague. Would I run into trouble if I booked a round trip
ticket and attempted to only fly the second leg (Prague to Amsterdam)
of the trip? What if I bought a round-trip ticket from Prague to
Amsterdam and booked the return (Amsterdam to Prague) leg for after I
return to the United States. What sort of repercussions would that
have -- legal or otherwise?

probonopublico (or others):
what about buying a round trip ticket with the intention of flying to
return trip only? (there's a deal if you buy a round-trip ticket that
originates in my city of destination) would that be problematic?

Hello:

The $99 one way pass is the ultimate discount. It is available at
http://www.europebyair.com. There are no large restrictions at all BUT
IT HAS TO BE BOOKED BY A TRAVEL AGENT. Therefore I will suggest if you
have any travel agent. GO to the travel agent and ask them to book for
you.

I can see why you're looking for $200. All I could find was an
extortionate $520.66 at www.nwa.com

Crazy as it seems, it's often cheaper to book a return flight than a single.

So, many folk buy a return ticket without any intention of using the return half.

This might make sense to the airlines but not to me.

Hi, Couldn't find a fare for less than 200.00 as requested, so I'm
posting this as a comment instead of an answer.
The best fare I found was through KLM website:
http://www.klm.com/cz_en/index.jsp - this is the English language
Czech Republic site - I did a regular search from Prague to Amsterdam
leaving Prague Jan 26 and coming back on February 25 - the fare I got
was 9982 CZK - approx. $332.00 USD - this is after all taxes.

You must book roundtrip, however in answer to your question if you'd
be able to buy the cheap Amsterdam to Prague ticket and not use the
first flight, the airline will cancel your reservation and you will
not be able to get on your flight from Prague to Amsteram. With the
ticket I'm suggesting you will simply not show up for your return
flight to Prague. Do not mention to the airline that you are going to
do this, as it will be in violation of their rules. But really, no
harm done. If you feel guilty about taking a seat that someone else
could use than call the airline after you get in to Amsterdam and
cancel the return fligt. With this fare you will not be given a refund
for the unused flight.

The only other option I can think of is going to a student travel
agency and see what they have to offer (often they have fares for
non-students and adults). Or, taking the train (about 14 and a half
hours) for about 150.00 USD
I hope this helps.

Have fun,

bluesky
