Hi, there,
I want to know college students' perceptions of online education that
uses WebCT in their course work for my doctoral disseratation paper.

The purpose of the proposed study is to describe the perceptions of
college students regarding online education using WebCT.

I am still looking for survey instrument that has already been tested
for validity and reliability. I already have several instruments, but
I need a latest one.

Would you please give me some advice about the WebCT survey
instrument?

Thank you so much in advance.

Hello Holim,

I am confused as to what exactly you are looking for. I did most of my
first year of university through WebCT. I know that WebCT has a survey
function built in that allows the instructor (or administrator) to
quiz/survey the students, but I doubt this is what you are looking
for.

You say that you have several instruments, but that you need the
latest one. Perhaps giving me an example of what you consider to be a
survey instrument will help me locate what you are looking for.

Would this be an example of one?

I am guessing that what you are doing is making a survey that will be
sent out to students. If this is the case, I would need to know what
survey instruments you already have, and what you would consider to be
a great answer to this question.

Hi there,
I am preparing my doctoral dissertation about WebCT. My dissertation
topic is 'College students' perceptions of online education that uses
WebCT'.

I am looking for a survey instrument about WebCT that has already been
tested for validity and reliability. That instrument is going to be
surveyed by college students who take WebCT courses in the University
of Houston.
I have one WebCT survey instrument developed by Dr. morse from
Creighton University in 1999.

I have to create my own WebCT survey instrument if I couldn't find
validated WebCT survey instrument(already been tested and used), but
it takes times to design and test and retest.

Please let me know if you have questions.

Hi Holim,

What student perceptions are you going to be measuring? They may have
perceptions about how easy WebCT is to use, how much they learned, how
long the course will take to complete, etc. If you could describe
exactly what it is you hope to measure with your survey, it would help
the researchers find a valid, reliable survey tool.

I've been trying to find the survey to which you referred in order to
get a sense of what you are measuring. When you referred to Dr. Morse
from
Creighton University is that the Professor Morse from the Law
department there?

Thanks,

I can't answer your question, but I can say that I'm a college student
and my course uses WebCT. I've found it to be very easy to use,
providing all the features my lecturers have dreamed up for it. It's
certainly more logically arranged than BlackBoard, that I used at my
previous institution.

However, all systems like this are limited by the humans actually
putting in the information. On my course important announcements still
get pinned to a noticeboard on a piece of paper instead of
disseminated electronically.
