I only get to watch The Sopranos now and then, but one time I caught
the end of a particular episode. Season three is currently screening
in Australia.

I can’t remember what happened during the actual episode, but I
remember the promotion for next week’s episode.

The end spiel went like this:

It started with some lady in a costume tapping Tony Soprano on the
shoulder, and he turns around. I think they were in a kitchen of a
restaurant. She was dressed like she was about to do a starring role
in Chicago.

Then the voiceover goes, "Tony Soprano is corrupt. He has no morals.
And he’s going straight to hell. But next week, Tony will find out the
true value of life."

That sounded intriguing enough to me, but as usual I didn’t get to
catch the episode, and it was maybe two or three months ago, so I
don’t know when it aired.

Now I also remember part of an episode I saw a while back, which might
have been the one that promoted the episode I want, but be warned, it
could actually be a wild goose chase.

The part I remember is Tony Soprano being pulled over for speeding by
this black cop with an attitude. Tony pulls a few strings and gets the
cop demoted. Remember, this might not be the episode that promoted the
one I’m after.

Also remember that it was an Australian doing the voiceover, so it may
have had different words in America.

What is the name of the episode that I’m after?

Hello markabe-ga,

It appears that the episode you want is indeed right after the one
where Tony Soprano was pulled over for speeding. The earlier episode
is called "Another Toothpick", while the next episode, which is called
"University", begins as follows: "One day Tony's sitting in the Bada
Bing when one of the dancers approaches him. Her name's Tracee and
she's baked him a loaf of date bread, a thank you for some advice he
gave her about her son." Without spoiling the ending, I'll note that
Tony Soprano does learn about the true value of life -- in particular,
Tracee's life.

"Another Toothpick"

"University"

None of the other episodes (especially that early in the season)
appear to have a similar incident, at least as a point worth noting in
the official description. So this gives me confidence that
"University" was the episode you learned about in the preview.
