I had the exact same problem when I moved into my college dorm a
couple years back and didn't have a TV to play my N64 on.
Unfortunately there's not much you can do about the pixelation, other
than try to find a setting on your videocard which lets your reduce
the monitor resolution so that the pixelation isn't so bad. There is a
better alternative to RF though. What I decided on doing was using an
S-Video cable for the video (it's higher quality than the RCA or RF
connectors, and if you had the same Pinnacle PCTV card that I had,
it's a snap). For the sound, what you need is a $2 or $3 female-female
RCA genderchanger, and one of those Y-shaped RCA-->minijack cables
that people use to hook up computers to stereos and the like. What
you'd have to do is connect the red and white wires from the N64 into
one end of the genderchanger, and in the other end, put the RCA ends
of the Y cable. Then stick the minijack end of the cable into the
linein of your soundcard. Then when you play, you should be able to
hear the sound through your normal computer speakers (make sure that
the linein volume in the volume control panel is turned up). You can
get the genderchanger and cable from Radioshack (dunno if you have
those in Oz, but you should be able to find them in any electronics
store), and you can get the S-Video cable at any video game store. If
you cannot find an N64 S-Video cable, you can buy one made for the
Nintendo Gamecube, they use the same connector and the cable will work
for your N64. Thanks for your question, and hope that I helped!
