I came in to work and saw the below in an email. HEY! My SUV is listed
there. Now I gotta either get up a half hour earlier to make it to
another close parking lot or park in the "loser lot", a half mile
away.

How did they come up with this list? I feel that they are allowing
vehicles (mini vans, large sedans, etc) that in fact are as big or
bigger than some of the SUVs listed, as far as width and length are
concerned.

Is there a place where I can get a complete list of vehicle widths and
lengths that can be sorted from biggest to smallest? Either to prove
they selectivly just chose trucks and SUVs, or that in fact this list
is fair.

<Quote>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Due to recent renovations to Parking Lot 5, oversized vehicles and
large trucks/vans will not be able to park in this parking lot. Normal
sized SUVs such as the Jeep Cherokee as well as normal sized mini-vans
can still park in the lot.

The following list is an example of vehicles that cannot park in
Parking Lot 5.

· All Full Sized Pickup Trucks (4x4s)
· Chevy Suburban
· Chevy Tahoe
· Ford Expedition
· Ford Excursion
· Lincoln Navigator
· GMC Yukon
· Cadillac Escalade
· GM Denali
· Dodge Ramcharger
· H1 & H2 Hummer
· Mercedes (Hummer like)
· Lexus 470
· Mazda Tribute
· Mitsubishi Montero
· Range Rover
· Toyota Sequoia
· Toyota Landcruiser

Note: The above examples are common large-size vehicles.
Restrictions will apply to any similar type large-size vehicle.

Hi lucky2beon,

I'm not sure we're going to be able to find easily-extractable common
source for all your data. I have found a website that provides the
following data for all vehicles:

Weight (lbs), Wheelbase (in), Length (in) and Width (in)

But the information appears on the screen only one vehicle at a time
-- and there are a lot of vehicles!

If you like, I'd be happy to go through the list and put together a
list that includes the following classes for the CURRENT or RECENT
YEAR MODELS ONLY.

SUV's
Large Pickup Trucks
Large luxury cars
Passenger Vans
Large Family Cars

The total list would be 55-60 vehicles, of which approximately 25 are
SUV’s. The data would look like this:

Class: Midsize utility vehicle

2002 Ford Explorer XLT
Weight: 4,511 lbs.
Wheelbase: 114 in.
Length: 190 in.
Width: 72 in.

Class: Large luxury car

2001 Lexus LS 430
Average weight: 4,065 lbs.
Wheelbase: 115 in.
Length: 197 in.
Width: 72 in.

Class: Passenger van

2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport
Average weight of 3 vehicles tested: 4,224 lbs.
Wheelbase: 119 in.
Length: 200 in.
Width: 79 in.

Class: Large family car

2001 Chrysler LHS
Weight: 3,611 lbs.
Wheelbase: 113 in.
Length: 208 in.
Width: 74 in.

If this kind of data would be acceptable to you as answer, please let
me know and I’ll get right on it.

Actually that would just fine. If the list was sorted so that the
widest vehicles were on top and the narrowest on the bottom, that
would suit my needs perfectly.

Here you go luckytobeon,

This is probably a fairly complete overview of the 67 largest
passenger cars / SUV’s on the road. As you requested, I’ve sorted them
in descending order by width. I had to draw the data from two
different web sources, since my original source didn’t include the
extra-large SUV’s. For this reason the layout of the data isn’t
exactly consistent, but all the numbers are there.

hi lucky2beon,
I have not been able to find a site with a complete listing of vehicle
widths & sizes, but i have found this - "Car Values Plus"
(www.hvaa.com) have an alphabetical listing of vehicle manufacturers
where you can choose the vehicle you want to know about. It enables
you to select the right car jacket size for your vehicle, (from a
choice of ten sizes), and from there you can obtain the approximate
dimensions for the vehicle you want to know about, based on their Car
Jacket Size Chart.
e.g.
Go to http://www.hvaa.com/car_bag_size.htm
Click on "American Car"
Click on "GMC" from list of manufacturers
Choose "Suburban" (L2 bag size)
Return to http://www.hvaa.com/car_bag_size.htm and look up "L2" on the
"Unlisted Vehicle size chart". There you will find the (approximate)
dimensions (W+H+L) of the vehicle that the L2 Car Jacket can
accomodate.
