Hi there,
I am preparing my doctoral dissertation about WebCT. My dissertation
topic is 'College students' perceptions of online education that uses
WebCT'.

I am looking for a survey instrument about WebCT that has already been
tested for validity and reliability. That instrument is going to be
surveyed by college students who take WebCT courses in the University
of Houston.
I have one WebCT survey instrument developed by Creighton University
in 1999.

I have to create my own WebCT survey instrument if I couldn't find
validated WebCT survey instrument(already been tested and used), but
it takes times to design and test and retest. That's why I need a
validated instrument.

Hello holim-ga,

Thank you for bringing your question to GA. It would be helpful if
you could clarify the following items:

1. What is the meaning of "CT" in "WebCT"?

2. WebCT is the software developed by the company in webct.com, right?

3. Suppose we find a survey instrument that was used and validated in
another institution. Could we assume it is also valid for the
University of Houston?

Let me hear from you,

1. WebCT (Web Course Tool), one of the Web-based instruction programs,
has been used as a supporting agent to traditional teaching
techniques.
2. Right. WebCT is the software(tool) developed by the company in
webct.com. WebCT can be used to create entire on-line course, or
simply used to publish materials that supplement existing courses.
3. No, I need a survey instrument that was used and validated in any
institution around the nation since it came out.

Thanks,

I am also a graduate student who is interested in WebCT, especially
since I have had to take a few of my classes through this medium.

I have found a few surveys that relate to students' experience with
this type of learning. Here are the links with some brief background
on what they are about:

"The purpose of this survey is to gather information that will help us
to help you in your studies at UOW. The information you provide will
guide us in improving all technical aspects of the service and how it
is used to support you in your learning by way of the WebCT Subject
Support sites (your WebCT Subject Sites)."

Contains some open-ended questions, as well as responses. Also has
tabulated data on responses.

after these.

I am not exactly sure what you are looking for, but I hope that this
helps you out. If you need any more information or help, please let
me know and best of luck with your dissertation!
