Here are the names and contact information for two companies that I
believe are most likely to be the producers of the carpet you have
described. If you do end up visiting them, it is helpful that they
are conveniently located in the same city.
1. Bewe Tapjit
Randweg 16
8061 RW Hasselt
Postbus 13 8280 AA
Genemuiden, Netherlands
038-4778160 (Tel.)
038-4778177 (Fax)
Here is a link to the company's website. Unfortunately, there
apparently is no English-language version of the site:
http://www.bewe.nl/HTML780/start780.html
An e-mail can be sent to Bewe from this page at the above site:
http://www.bewe.nl/HTML780/email7.html
2. Telenzo Carpets BV
Postbus 125 8280 AC
Genemuiden, Netherlands
038-3851700 (Tel.)
038-3851707 (Fax)
Telenzo's website is apparently not up and running but has the
following address:
http://www.telenzo.nl/
Search Strategy:
The name of the carpet style in question -- Avignon -- led me to the
page on the Unique Carpets website that described that product. At
that page, a logo was displayed next to each style within the "Woven
Elegance Collection." That logo carries the legend "Decorwool."
(Amazingly enough, Unique Carpets has apparently reconfigured the
"collections" on its website overnight, so that today there is no more
"Woven Elegance Collection," and the Avignon style is now contained
within the "Shagtastic Collection" (
http://www.uniquecarpetsltd.com/shagtastic.htm# ). Logos are no
longer pictured with the collections.)
Searching for links containing the word "Decorwool" led me to the
information that Decorwool is a brand promoted by a marketing
organization called "Wools of New Zealand."
See, for example, the reference on this page to "100% pure wool
branded: Wools of New Zealand - Decorwool":
installQuote: Berber Loop Collections
http://www.installquote.com/cats/Carpet/ExpressiveDesignsBerberLoops-5083.html
The "Wools of New Zealand" web site reveals that the graphics in its
own logo are identical to those used by the retailer with the
Decorwool brand, which confirms their relationship:
Wools of New Zealand
http://www.woolsnz.com/index.asp
The product marketing section of the website provides much information
about the function of the organization:
"There are 361 licensed Wools of New Zealand brand partners in 20
countries - these are manufacturers of apparel and interior textile
products who are well known in their markets and can help make New
Zealand wool an even more valuable product.
Brand partnerships are the key to building international demand for
New Zealand wool because they lock leading spinners, weavers,
manufacturers and retailers into using New Zealand wool. This is
because brand partner license specifications require New Zealand wool
to be used, and because of the benefits brand partners receive - such
as quality wool supply, Wools of New Zealand product development,
WRONZ technologies and access to high-tech retail merchandising and
promotion."
New Zealand Wool Group Product Marketing

Since your carpet sample indicated that it was manufactured in
Holland, the last step was to find a current list of the manufacturing
partners of Wools of New Zealand that are located in the Netherlands.
That list was found at this page deep within the Wools of New Zealand
website:
Wools of New Zealand: Partner
http://www.woolsnz.com/popup_partner/eu.htm
The fact that Bewe and Telenzo are the only broadloom partners located
in the Netherlands led me to the conclusion that the manufacturer of
the carpet in question is likely to be one of those two companies.
Google Search Terms:
"unique carpets" avignon
decorwool
"wools of new zealand"
bewe
telenzo
This has been an interesting but enjoyable journey. I hope that this
information leads you to purchase the carpet of your dreams at a
reasonable price.
Please let me know if any of the information is unclear or if any of
the links don't work.
