Where specifically can I find or buy a list of sales records for CD's and record albums? I'm especially interestd in jazz. For example, I'd like to know how many copies of Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" were sold, and compare that to jazz albums and CD's by other artists, past and present. |

You can find CD sales in America in www.riaa.com You click on the section "Gold and Platinum" and then on "Gold and Platinum Search". There you can find the greatest sellers of all time, and even find record sales by artist, by CD title, etc...it is a very complete online search engine where you can find numbers of CD sales. |

The only place you can get information on past CD sales is through Soundscan. It's a sales information database that has been kept since around 1991 to the present day, and you can enter any CD title, artist name, or selection # (how CDs are identified) and it will tell you past sales. It can be broken down by week, region of the country, and overall sales since the album was released. Unfortunately consumers cannot get access to Soundscan, as it's information used by the music industry on a B2B level. -Randi |
