01) I am looking for a detailed, high-resolution (downloadable, 
internet available) map the area covered by the Ituri Forest in the
DRC (aka Zaire). All the maps I have found are vague and dinky.
02) I am looking for a detailed description of the boundries of the 
Ituri. Geographical coordinates would be best.

The U.S. Defense Mapping Agency produces Operational Naviation Charts
(ONCs).  Charts ONC L-4 and M-4 cover the area.  Each is about 2
meters x 1 meter (6'W x 3'H).

Because I lived in Kasongo and have traveled extensively in eastern
Zaire, it so happens that I have copies of both charts and could make
a scan or two for you.  However, as you know the area covered by the
forest is large (and my scanner is small).  Is there a town or
particular area that I could scan for you?

I have a set of Belgian 1:200,000 maps of Zaire, but what I could
really use is a map shadded to identify the approximate area of the
Ituri.

I appreciate your offer and will keep it in mind.

Over the next few weeks I will be asking many questions about the
area, so please keep an eye out for them. I would certainly appreciate
your expertise.

an exciting online resource and deserves it far more than I do.

I'd be happy to answer questions about the Ituri Forest, though I'm

It will be hard to find a truly "detailed description of the
boundaries of the Ituri":
"The geographic boundaries of the Ituri Forest are difficult to define
as the forest blends in with other forests and swamp regions. The
Ituri borders savanna to the north, the Western Rift Valley to the
east, and lowland rain forest to the south and west. The name Ituri
Forest derives from the Ituri River, which runs from east to west
across the forest, flowing into the Aruwimi River before emptying into
the Congo River."

Your maps were much better then the first respondent to the question;
one of them was new to me. However what I am looking for is a map with
the general area of Ituri forest shaded by a different color.

That said, I would like to pay you for your effort, how do I do that?
