Dexter company went out of business. They made door locks. They had a uniquie hole size. Dexters was 1 7/8" whereby the standard now is 2 1/8". I am looking for companies that sell Dexter locks, specifically front entry door lock sets. Your Home Depot and Lowes do not sell them. thanks |

Master acquired Dexter in 1985 but no longer manufactures products under that brand. Medeco may make a replacement cylinder to fit a 1 7/8 bore, but not a lockset. The general solution to your problem is to redrill the opening to accomodate the now-standard larger size. Any locksmith should be able to do it for you. It might be possible to find a locksmith or hardware store that has been around for twenty years that might have one leftover on some dusty shelf. It is doubtful that such a source would be locatable on the internet. I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but I hope it is useful. |

http://www.jnathan.com/mannam.htm This site lists Dexter hardware and might be worth calling, though I believe that the information on the website is inaccurate. |
