Hi backhoe,

It would be helpful if you could provide the following information:
What OS (Operating System) you're using... win98, NT, 2K, XP???, and
does your system have a "SYSTEM RESTORE" in order to make the computer
go back in time to before you started getting all the error messages.
Might be called GoBack, System Restore, etc. Have you added anything
new to your computer such as more memory, a peripheral, a new program.
Are you running AntiVirus? More information will be most helpful.
Thank you,

tlspiegel

Hi backhoe-ga,

Please refer to my answer to your slightly earlier question:
"Computer locked in DOS with above message."
https://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=145316

If that answer addresses the same issue in this question, you may wish
to cancel this question.

Am running WIN98, nothing new added to pc, hardware or peripherals and
am running anit-viris.
Have tried WINDOWS98\SCANREG /RESTORE and WIN98\SCANREG /RESTORE in
caps and small letters.

To find where the file is, load the command, follow the following:

cd \
dir /s scanreg.exe

You should hopefully be able to catch the directory in there when it
says it. If you do, type:
cd \DIRECTORY

in this directory, type:
scanreg /restore
It will bring up a listing of dates that you can restore to (Assuming
you hadn't disabled system restore.) Select one that you know it was
working on.

In Win98 it's normally in c:\windows\command\
Capitalization does not matter.
