I found an old painting, possibly a water color, that is signed but I
cannot read the signature and title completely. Please help me
identify the artist name and any other of his/her works and any
background on the painting and artist. I think the painted scene is a
real place....the name of the artist and location appears French or
German - a guess.
The first name of the artist appears to be something close to
"Herin".Definitely begins with an "H"
The last name begins with a "Y"....it looks like Yainiary. But the "i"
and "n" look distorted in the handwriting.
The title of the piece is also signed and is labled "Canal in
Guitanne"..But the G could be a Q for Quitanne. Or the name could be
something else entirely....the last four letters definitely look like
"anne". So, Canal in Xxxxanne....
The scene is of a canal in a rural area with a man walking by two
horses. The season appears to be late fall from the coloring and look
of the leaves off trees and on the ground.
The picture is at least 30 - 50 years old. |

Is it possible for you to take a closeup picture of the signature and
post it somewhere on the web?
