Hi teacher6,

You don't, by any chance, know the year(s) this commercial was aired, do you?

Hello teacher6-ga,

One of the postings listed by tar_heel_v-ga is basically correct.
According to this article by Prof. Lloyd Ultan, Bronx County
Historian, the commercial was for Sachs Quality Furniture.

[The original page is not currently on the web; it appears that the

trustworthy. Moreover, if you search for "Lloyd Ultan" on Google,
you'll find confirmation that he is the Bronx County Historian.]

I searched for the following phrases on Google, Google Groups, and
Ixquick ( http://ixquick.com ):

"melrose 5 5300"
"merose five five three hundred"

I also used The Internet Archive's Wayback Machine (
http://www.archive.org ) to find the cached version of the page.

I am adding this as a comment as I can't verify the source. While I
have uncovered references to the number, most are people asking about
it. I did find one posting from a newsgroup that stated the number
was for Sach's Quality Stores. Yet another refernced Gimble's
Department store upholstery service. The one common denominator is
that it is referring to a store in the Bronx. There may be other
Researcher's out there that can verify this.

Good luck!
