Question ID: 145980
I currently run a website. The site gets about 2500 loads a day, but
only about 300-400 unique hits a day. The site is rapidly growing.
Is it too soon to place ads on the site and what is the best way of
doing this? I prefer a service that would do all the selling for me
and just pay me a flat fee.

For a service such as this, how much income are we talking a month?

I little more information on your website is required. What is the
subject of you site? The reason this maters is that a website with a
subject that is very narrow can be viable for advertising with a
signifigantly fewer hits per day than one that appeals to a broader
target.

The website is a fan site of a university's athletic program (sports
forum). It is visited by fans, opposing teams fans, etc..

Hi,

There are three or four dominant advertising agencies that serve
independent internet sites such as yours. They have different ad
serving requirements, meaning the publisher (you) must have xxx amount
of potential ads served via your page views/day or page views/month.

The company with requirements for the least amount of page views/month
is Burst
http://burstmedia.com

They advertise themselves as "BURST! Media sells advertising for more
than 2000 websites that represent the highest quality specialty
content on the Internet. BURST! is devoted to meeting the needs of
both our specialty-content web publishers, and advertisers who
understand the unique value of specialty-content web sites and their
audiences. "

You need to click on the "Publishers" link to read through the
eligibility requirements and go through an application procedure.

The next company in line is Fastclick.
http://www.fastclick.com/
Again, you will need to click on the publisher link to read about
their requirements and submit an application.

The final choice, and, unfortunately one you do not yet qualify for is
called MaxWorldWide
http://www.maxworldwide.com
They are much more picky in choosing their publishing partners and
have a 500,000 page views/month requirement. In fact, if you sign up
with them and run their ads, and have less than 500,000 page views in
a month, you will receive no money at all.

There are a few other internet advertising agencies on the internet,
however, the three I pointed out are the three most reliable in terms
of the ads they serve and the way they make regular payments to their
clients.

If you are accepted by any or all of these, you will have your choice
of banner ads, pop-up and pop-under ads, tower ads and other types.

Best of luck with your website.

with an average of 2,500 page views/day you might expect between
$1-2/day in ad revenue or about $30-$60 month. That would be enough to
cover your hosting costs and little more. The internet advertising
environment is very soft.
