Dear job1-ga, There are examples of transferral of voting rights of common stock. Warren Buffett often grants voting rights to trusted directors and management of companies he owns. A proxy may be signed to transfer voting rights to another individual. http://investopedia.com/terms/p/proxy.asp Common stock holders may use a voting trust certificate to transfer voting rights to a trust which consolidates the votes of many minority stock holders: http://www.trading-glossary.com/v0059.asp http://www.amerilawyer.com/voting_trusts.htm Related links: "George Sletteland testified that he owns a beneficial interest in Bank stock, the voting rights of which he transferred to his son. TR 193. He testified that the voting trust is irrevocable for five years and he cannot replace the trustee." http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/enforcement/5152.html "Now let's look at Comcast and Cox. Sure, Comcast and Cox will give up voting rights, but the companies can also exit their exclusive arrangement with Excite@Home in 2001. Comcast and Cox will be free to rake in fees from other Internet service providers." http://news.zdnet.co.uk/story/0,,t269-s2078082,00.html Sincerely, sweetcaro333-ga | |
