I have found three articles from September to November 2002 that
mention Rick Quintero. I assume that these are not sufficient?

Are you looking for an in-depth profile of Rick Quintero, or something
else? Do you have any idea whether this is a national or local
magazine?

I am almost positive that the magazine he is in, is a national
magazine, like fashion, news, health, fitness, entertainment, womens
and mens magazines. I also thought that it was either a Jan or Feb
issue. It was mentioned on Good Day LA sometime at the beginning of
the month

I also believe that it was some kind of profile with a picture or two
but I'm not sure

Dear Saleen,

I have found the magazine you are looking for! The reason there
was some difficulty locating it is that the folks on Good Day LA
had just discovered the article, and it was news to them when they
discussed it recently, but the article was actually published a year
ago. I spoke with the CHP Officer Rick Quintero on the phone this
morning, and he told me the article they were talking about on the
air was actually published in Oye Magazine last year.

I then talked with the Managing Editor of Oye, Javier Reynaldo, and
he told me the article was in the Jan-Feb edition of Oye in 2002.
The article was titled, “El Gallo y Sus Pollitos,” which means
“The Rooster and His Little Chicks” in Spanish. Officer Quintero
was featured as the “rooster” or “big guy” modeling western clothes
at a simulated cock-fight, surrounded by lovely women or “chicks.”
“Oye”, by the way, means “listen” in Spanish, and is also an acronym
for Open Your Eyes, which is the alternate title of the magazine.

The magazine is published by the Tlahtoani Media Group in Los Angeles.
If you would like to order the back issue in question right now, you
can e-mail nvalverde@oyemag.com, and she will send you the magazine.
The magazine’s website, www.oyemag.com , is under some construction,
but you should soon be able to order the magazine from the site also.

I hope you are happy with this answer. If anything is unclear, or if
the links don’t work for you, please ask me to clarify before you
rate my research. Thanks for your question, it was fun to delve into!
