The problem is quite complex ( to me), so I'll try to be clear.
I bought a program: Zoner Gif Animator4, but can't use it because an
important function: EDIT, doesn't work. When I click on the frame
to edit, I get this message: Error running image editor. Error no.1
File: "C\\WINDOWS\TEMP\zga 8033.bmp.
I wrote to the company and asked for help. They said it might be
a problem with a damaged file association, probably Windows Paint--
the default editor is Paint--
I had problems, weeks ago, with Paint, but it was fixed, Paint was
re-installed.
What does that error message mean? Is there anything I can do
to fix it and use my program? Thank you.

Hello again Paula and thanks for using the site's services once more.

Zoner Gif Animator, like other image editing programs, normally should
not have this kind of problem. There are many factors that could cause
a condition like this. Examples are file corruption, missing file, bad
installation, defective installer program, etc. I'm not going to be
too technical to explain all of these things to you, rather, I will
try to give you a direct solution or an alternative way to solve your
problem.

Based on the what the company told you regarding a damaged file
association, they may be write. But as I mentioned before, there can
be other factors. I personally think, based on your case, that the
problem is caused by either a corrupted or missing "zga 8033.bmp" file
in your "C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\" directory. There should be no problem with
Paint. Besides, what is "zga 8033.bmp" anyway? Is this the file you
are going to edit? There is no use in searching for the file too since
it is probably irrelevant to your objective.

Below are are possible solutions that can/will help you do your
objective. Again, simply press the "Shift" key before clicking on a
link so it will open a new window or right-click on the link and
choose "Open in New Window" for your convenience.

Since the copmpany's reply to you is about a damaged file association,
you can simply uninstall and reinstall your Zoner Gif Animator 4. Read
and follow instructions carefully.

If this doesn't work, do this:

Register your software, Zoner Gif Animator, and get full product
support for your program and perhaps be able to upgrade to version 5.

Zoner, Inc. Website
On-Line Registration
http://www.zoner.com/support/registration.asp

If this still doesn't work, you can just use other Gif animator
programs. Choose from among 35 available programs. Read carefully.
Some are free to try but would later require you to buy, others are
absolutely free. You can see the programs through the link below. As I
mentioned in your earlier query, read and follow the instructions
carefully.

CNET Networks, Inc. Website
"Gif Animator"
http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=gif+animator&tg=dl-20&search=+Go%21+

Personally, I would choose CoffeeCup GIF Animator for making animated
gifs because it's free and easy to use. You can download it from the
site below:

CoffeeCup Software, Inc. Website
http://www.coffeecup.com/

Search strategy:

Again, personal knowledge plus minor searches on Zoner Gif Animator
and other gif animating programs at Download.com

"Zoner Gif Animator"

There is something that makes me wonder: Why do you have so many
different programs when you already have an image editing software --
that is, if you downloaded EyeBrowse 2.6. from the link I gave you
before? I think it will suffice for normal image editing but I'm not
sure if it can make animated gifs. Anyway, you can forget about my
curiosity and just proceed to the solution to your problem. If you
have any comments/questions, please feel free to post your
clarification before rating this and I'll get back to you as soon as
possible. Thanks again for your continued patronage and allowing me to
answer your query. I hope the site will be of tremendous help to you.

Feilong, thank you. Sorry I didn't reply immediately, but it was
night when you sent
this. The company is helping me; they explained they associated
BitMap with Paint
(for editing frames) because most computers have it, but I can change
association and it is
what I did. The problem is solved 70% now. I have got CoffeCup gif
animator, yet Zoner
offers more possibilities. When I click on edit fraame, the frame
opens in PhotoIMpact7,
which is cool. The only tiny problem is that I don't know how to
switch back to Zoner.
When I tried the trial version ( always Zoner) the editor was Paint,
it opened in a smaller
window and when finished, I had my edited frame. Then it stopped
working; I had
Paint re-installed by a technician but there is, apparently, a
link-association missing.
I can use PhotoImpact as image editor, no problem but for the little
glitch I named above.

Thank you for the help and for the useful links. Paula
