Radio Sations pay nothing to air the show. They get it on barter. This means that the syndicator (producer) and the station split the commercial minutes avaiable per hour (usually 12 mins on FM - 6 local and 6 for the syndicator). The syndicator then sells those spots to national advertisiers based on the total audience listening to the show. The local station goes and sells the local spots based on having a brand name show. |
