Here's an interesting side note. Last night during a telephone
conversation, I spoke with somebody who had written several emails to
Mr. Friedman. She was not sure if the account actually went to him,
but to her surprise he had replied to her most recent email.

(My guess is that each of Mr. Friedman's columns generates hundreds,
and quite possibly thousands, of email messages to him.)
