I have a follow-up question to a previous question (Question ID:
126083) I asked on 12/17/02.

On 12/17/02, websearcher-ga answered my previous question:
What is the total fossil fuel consumption in barrels per day for the
following 4 countries: Denmark, Greece, Bulgaria, and Poland? (I
need four separate answers, please!)
(Answered By: websearcher-ga on 17 Dec 2002 12:21 PST) I can forward
his answer to whomever if you give me an address to forward it to.

So here's my followup question: what is the current breakdown of oil
consumption by product category (Gasoline, Kerosene, Gas Oil, Diesel,
Hvy Fuel Oil, etc.) for the following 3 countries: Greece (which
consumes 399,000 barrels of oil per day), Denmark (which consumes
215,000 barrels of oil per day), and Bulgaria (which consumes 92,000
barrels of oil per day.) So for example, for Greece: I'm looking for
the the breakdown in barrels per day for each product category such
that the sum of all of the categories add up to 399,000 barrels.

Please feel free to contact me should you need further clarification
on my question. Thank you.

Dear bj1234,

I carefully examined the way my Fellow Researcher, websearcher-ga, has
answered your previous question and then started researching this
topic, using both the U.S. Energy Information Administration database
and alternate sources. However, I did not find any data more recent or
detailed than the information provided by the EIA, though it dates
from 2000 and 1990, respectively. Obviously, no newer data on oil
consumption is freely available yet. So I decided using their figures
for my answer.

-- Oil Product Consumption Figures for Denmark, 2000 --

Gasoline........................45,800 barrels/day
Jet Fuel........................17,520 barrels/day
Kerosene...........................260 barrels/day
Distillate......................86,710 barrels/day
Residual........................22,500 barrels/day
Liquid Gas.......................2,380 barrels/day
Other Oils......................24,970 barrels/day
Unspecified.....................14,930 barrels/day

Total Oil Product Consumption..215,070 barrels/day

-- Oil Product Consumption Figures for Greece, 2000 --

Gasoline........................75,730 barrels/day
Jet Fuel........................27,790 barrels/day
Kerosene...........................300 barrels/day
Distillate.....................144,350 barrels/day
Residual.......................107,110 barrels/day
Liquid Gas......................14,010 barrels/day
Unspecified.....................30,010 barrels/day

Total Oil Product Consumption..399,300 barrels/day

-- Oil Product Consumption Figures for Bulgaria, 1999 --

Gasoline........................18,350 barrels/day
Jet Fuel.........................2,540 barrels/day
Distillate......................26,630 barrels/day
Residual........................21,980 barrels/day
Liquid Gas.......................3,570 barrels/day
Unspecified.....................24,180 barrels/day

Total Oil Product Consumption...97,260 barrels/day

Thank you for your quick response.

I have a follow-up question: what is the definition of "Distillate"
and "Residual"? and are either of them diesel fuel?
If possible, could you please respond in the next 30 to 60 minutes?
Thanks.

Dear bj1234,

"Residual Oils" are generally spoken heavy, thick oils. They are used
for powerful major machines and installations, such as power plants
and factories. Also, the very heavy marine diesel used for powering
large ships belongs in this category.

"Distillate Oils" are lighter oils, most of which are used to heat
houses and small business places as well as powering engines of
locomotives and street vehicles. The varios kinds of fuel diesel
belong in this category.

Hope this answers your question!
