My computer runs on Win XP. I use Outlook Express for email. I
received a 3.4m attachment, which is compressed (I believe). Outlook
will not let me open or save the attachment. What's up???

What happens when you attempt to save the attachment? Do you receive
any sort of error message?

Do you mean that the options are simply greyed out to let you open/save?

Outlook will not let me save the attachment, either. When I select
save, I get a message at the bottom of my Outlook screen telling me to
select which attachment to save. Moving the cursor back up to the
file highlights it only.

When selecting the attachment (paperclip) the box opens to let me
either highlight the attachment, or Save Attachment. Clicking on
either box does nothing.

Same thing happened to me recently and it was because I'd been having
some trouble with viruses and inadvertently set my security settings
too high. Don't know if that's your problem or not but just in case,
you might try clicking on "Tools," "Options," and the "Security" tab.
See if the second square box is checked, the one that reads, "Do not
allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a
virus." If it is, uncheck it, and that should take care of the
problem, though you may have to close/reopen OE, or perhaps even
reboot. Good luck. Sure is frustrating.
