I'm trying to find this book for a friend, but I don't know the title.
Here is all the information about it that I know:
It's in color
It had pictures of objects turning into other objects
It probably took place in a boy's dream
It's thin, large, and softcover
The cover prominently featured the colours yellow and gold
The boy rides on his blanket which at one point turns into a leaf and
then back into the blanket
There is no text, only illustration
Any information would be greatly appreciated... |

Setanor:
There are several different books which sound very similar to your
friend's book. One of the books is relatively recent (published about
five years ago) while the other book was published 30 years ago. Do
you have an estimate of when your friend's book was published?

It's definitely older than 5 years, because he remembers reading it
around 1990 or so...

Okay, that date narrows it down a bit.
Does your friend remember whether the book had any "pop-ups"?
Alternatively, did the boy in the story own a dog?

The book did not have pop-ups. I'll have to ask about the dog...

Hello setanor-ga,
Do you think the book might be "The Prince and the Pink Blanket" by
Barbara Brenner? It was published in 1980.
Here's an abstract of the book from the Children's Picture Book
Database at Miami University (http://www.lib.muohio.edu/pictbks) :
"The prince carries an old pink blanket around with him at all times.
It makes the prince feel safe, brave, and happy to carry the blanket.
The king decides no kids are allowed to carry blankets. The king is
shown a film of when he was a kid and that he too carried a blanket.
Finally, the king allows the children to have their blankets back."

Hmm, nope. He wasn't a prince. Thanks, though.
