Full message, when opening a simple .htm file containing links that are absolue (I think that is the term. They're made relative to each other, rather than relative to the directory they're in on the computer they're being made upon) is as follows: "The Contents of a FrontPage component have been modified. These contents will be overwritten when you save the page." Incredibly annoying for a dummy like me. I am running FrontPage 98 on a desktop viao running ME. App works fine in that it isn't broken in any way i know. When creating links with the Editor portion of the application, it automatically makes the links relative to the machine, rather than relative to each other. So the link in the script reads <img src="file:///C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/left_nav.jpg" instead of what I want it to say (both files are in the same directory) which is simply <img src="left_nav.jpg" I want it to default to the second way of expressing the link. Please tell me how to modify or adjust the application to accomodate that need to have it always make type of links I've described. Thank you, Paul Thomas |

FrontPage 98 had a truly annoying bug that converted many files to the C:/// etc. instead of the correct relative filename. I used to run "find and replace" way too often to catch and repair the errors it generated. FrontPage 2000 seems to be free of this problem. Sometimes the price of an upgrade is worth one's sanity. |

I would go further and say that Frontpage IS an annoying bug! I'm a professional web designer and that is the worst program that I have ever tried to use to make a web site. Switch to Dreamweaver is my recommendations. |
