About 10 to 12 years ago, I bought an expensive Swiss wall clock at
Globus at the Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich. I’m not sure about the brand,
but the dial says “Le Régent” “Trianon”.
The clock is in need of servicing, and I would like to know the name
of a reputable dealer in the U.S. preferably in the Chicago area, who
could service my clock.

I have not seen information about this particular clock on the web.
Perhaps another Researcher will find it. But if not, would a list of
reputable antique clock repair services in the Chicago area be a
sufficient answer?

Could you describe the clock in more detail, so that we have more
information on which to base our research? Better yet, could you post
pictures of the clock somewhere on the web?

While there are many fine watchmakers, I couldn't find a company
called "Le Regent" or "Trianon" regarding the manufacture of your
clock. I did, however, find that those were the popular names for a
certain style of Swiss clock.

You asked for "a reputable dealer in the U.S. preferably in the
Chicago area, who can service your clock."

There is a clock/watch service in Chicago, in business since 1917,
that has an outstanding reputation for repair and restoration. Its
customer list includes fine jewelers and clock dealers from all over
the country. Indeed, my mother sent her Meissen and Louis XIV clocks
there for service.

If that will suffice for your search of a reputable repair service,
please let me know.

I don't have an easy way to put a picture of the clock on a web. But
it looks quite similar to this one: http://www.azura.ch/model4.htm

serenata:
The name of that service will be fine as an answer, especially because
it comes with your mother's recommendation. Actually, I'd prefer to
get only one name, as opposed to a list of potential names requiring
me to do more research on my own.

Hello Drappier ~

If your clock is similar to the lovely clock you showed JustAskScott
above, what a beautiful clock!

My mother's clock resembled the porcelain mantel clock on this page:
http://www.myswisstime.com/clocks.htm

It still runs well!

The shop in Chicago I was referring to is Chicago Clock Company. Their
website is at:
http://www.chicagoclock.com/service.html

They have two locations: on the south at Palatine; on the north at
Watertower Place (7th level).

As I said, they have been in business for almost a century. Their
craftsmen are now sons of
craftsmen they had before, and there are many fine jewelers who send
clocks and watches
to them from other states. If you are willing to wait, they will take
the time to give you an
estimate before you leave the premises. Otherwise, they will call you
with your estimate.

They'll tell you if they have any parts needed on the premises, or if
they have to send to
the factory or have one machined to specs.

Their online information leans heavily to the wooden grandfather and
Black Forest Clocks,
but I assure you they take such care of beautiful time pieces.

It has been years since I was actually in the store, but I was always
fascinated by the
feel inside. They like clocks, they like watches, and you can feel
that inside the store.

Hope this helps and take care of that beauty!

Excellent answer, Serenata. Sorry for being so tardy with my feedback,
but I wanted to wait until I got the clock back. The repair took 5
weeks (they had to wait for parts and they tested the clock for a full
week before releasing it), but now the clock is again as good as new.
