Dear thagen, Since almost all classes depend on some level or another on language proficiency, LEP students would encounter diffiiculties in many classes, including English classes, history ones - both because of the reading entailed, and some science classes (which depends on the level of LEP), because of the explanations in a scientific language. Special programmes and cutticulum are intended to assist these students. The ESOL programmes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) should accompany or sustitute English. Read more about it here: http://www.glc.k12.ga.us/qcc/ancill/esol/in-esol.htm I hope that answered your question. I searched Google for the terms LEP students "curriculum planning" and added some of my knowledge in pedagogy. If you need any clarifications on this answer, don't hesitate to ask. I'd be pleased to clarify my answer before you rate it. | |
