Thanks for your question. I would like to remind you that answers are
general information, and are not intended to substitute for informed
professional medical, psychiatric, or other professional advice.
Before taking any medications, be they pharmeceutical or herbal, check
with your doctor.
Passion flower(Passiflora incarnata), has long been used as a mild
sedative, though medical use is not noted until the 19th century.
Currently, there are no well known drug interactions with passion
flower, however, some herbalists recommend not taking passion flower
with MAO-inhibiting antidepressants. Effexor (Venlafaxine) is not an
MAO-inhibitor. Other than that, there are no know drug
contraindications. A concern you may have is the drowsiness that may
be caused by the clonazepam may be intensified by using passion
flower.
Again, I strongly suggest you speak with your physician and your
pharmacist prior to begininning any type of treatment that he/she has
not recommended or prescribed.
Thanks again for your question and I hope the above information has
been helpful. If you need any additional clarification, please let me
know.
Regards,
-THV
