Hello tony12345:
Thanks for the great question! Wine is one of my favorite things. :-)
I have already been able to find a wine seller in California who has
two bottles of the 1998 Turley Zinfandel Dogtown wine in stock. I have
contacted them by email and received the following reply to my
specific request about availability of this vintage:
*******************************
Hello,
I show 2 bottles.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Paul

NOTE REGARDING ALL ORDERS:
See "Terms" @ http://marinwinecellar.com/Terms.html
All wine is sold on a first come first served basis. We do not "hold"
wines for sale. Those who pay first are the ones who receive the wine.
Remember, there is a $150 minimum purchase for delivery.
If you feel secure enough to send your credit card and delivery
information over the web/Internet, then that is up to you. Faxing it,
although a bit more time consuming, is probably safer.
All INTERNATIONAL ORDERS subject to payment by BANK TRANSFER ONLY.

If you go to Marin's homepage at
http://www.marinwinecellar.com/alternate_ind.htm
and click on "Zinfandel" in the lefthand column, you'll see that they
are charging $125/bottle.
Other ordering information can be found in the above email or at the
site by clicking on "Order" at the top right.
I have also contacted two other vendors who show the wine on their
list. One of them just emailed to say he doesn't have any in stock,
but has other Turleys (if you're interested).
I'll keep looking for further vendors and let you know how I'm
progressing through clarifications.
Please forward any further instructions via the Clarification Request
feature.
Thanks.

Hi tony12345:
I just found some more bottles at a wine auction house. I emailed
Acker Auctions (http://www.ackerwines.com/) and they sent this
response:
*********************
We have no 98 Turley in the store, but you may want to check on
the auction sight ( www.ackerwines.com ) for upcoming online
auctions... There are two lots in the upcoming live auction on Feb
7+8 that have the 98 included in them, but are not exclusively the
wine that you are looking for. They are 1300 and 1666.
*********************
The 1666 lot sems to be the best. It contains *5* bottles of the 1998
and 5 bottles of the 2000. You have to buy the whole lot, however. The
lot can be seen on page 26 of:
Third Session
http://www.ackerwines.com/catalogs/pdf_catalogs/03-1/03-1-THIRD_SESSION.pdf
In the second session, there is a lot of twelve bottles, 2 of which
are the 1998. Lot 1300, page 39:
Second Session
http://www.ackerwines.com/catalogs/pdf_catalogs/03-1/03-1-SECOND_SESSION.pdf
See their home page for more information about how to take part in the
auctions.
I'll continue to send information as it comes my way. I have about
half a dozen more enquiries out there.

Hi tony12345:
I think we've hit the motherlode!
I just got the following response from Wades Wines in Westlake
Village, California.
***************************
We started with 25 cases so I'm sure we have 3 or 4 cases left!! I can
get
the exact count if you need it!! The price is $79.89 per bottles,
discount
on cases and multiply cases no problem!!! Had a bottle about two
weeks ago
drinking nice!!!
Thanks Wade 805-522-4445
*********************************
I have asked him for a more exact count for now. However, if you want
to contact him before that - go ahead!
Their website is at:

Hi Tony:
I found one more bottle - though you're not likely interested if you
get the cases from Wade!

We have (1) bottle only at $70.00 plus shipping and handling cost. To

Wine arrived today my many thanks for all your help, it really has
been very much appreciated. I trust as you enjoy the grape as well you
take note of all the difficulties we have had locating this vintage
and take the opportunity of considering getting a bottle yourself,
think its a better investment than the stock market at the moment!!
Thanks again

Hi tony12345:
Thanks so much for your kind words and generous tip! It is greatly
appreciated. :-)
I am really very gratified when a search works out for all involved as
this one did. As for investing in some of the grape myself, I may do
so - but I prefer Burgundies!!
