when I try to play certain games I get an error message that tells me
to enable 3D graphic accelerator. I went to dxdiag and the 3D graphic
accelerator is enabled. I ran a diagnostic on the accelerator. It
passed everything except one step. I recieved an error message that
read, "Test Failed at step 5 (GetDeviceCaps):HRESULT=0x8876086a (3D
not available)". What is this error and how do I fix it? I am not able
to run certain games that ran before and I can not load certain games.
What do I do?

To help someone answer this question the following information is
probably going to be required...
Is your computer a brandname one? If so, what make and model?
What type of video card is installed in your computer?
What games are causing problems specifically?
What driver are your using for your video card?
What version of DirectX is installed?
What have you done that may have affected your graphics system since
the last time you were able to run any of these games?
The more information you can provide, the less guessing and assumption
is needed on the part of the researchers, and the more accurate and
helpful your answer will be.

Hello wiseguy44,
Thanks for the clarification... I would like to know what games this
is happening with? A complete list would be great.
Also what type of video card do you have?
