Looking for an explaination of the THEORETICAL capabilities of a long range non-lethal weapon. Possibly transmitting radio radiation that disorients subject. 01) What would be the potential range (10 feet - 100 miles?) 02) What is the widest possible target area (Could it target a whole city if weapon is high enough aloft?) | |

I believe as I have seen on many a military documentary, microwaves and Intense laser radiation are two of the types of non-lethal attack systems in development. The lasers are either a man portable weapon(albeit very clumsy at its present stage of development), or fired from a platform. They simply "blind" the target although not lethal maybe not politically desirable. The microwave weapons can be used to disorient but with possible harmful side effects. Please check Discovery Channels website as within the last year there have been at least 2 very informative documentaries on the subject you require. |

Tetanizer

There is a medium range laser-based non-lethal weapon under development by HSV Tecnologies called the Tetanizer. It projects two oxygen lasers onto the target, creating ionized air channels along the way which are used to conduct a precisely modulated high-frequency electric pulse that overloads the body's nerve channels to the target's muscles, forcing them to relax or to contract. The method is non-lethal and painless (save for the target getting injured when collapsing prone) and even works through a moderate layer of clothing.
