What is the history of the Cathedral of San Jose located in Costa Rica
from its initial beginnings to the present time?

I have posted this chronology as a comment rather than an answer
because I could not find anything to fill in the gaps between 1871 and
1983.  Perhaps another researcher can succeed where I have failed.

Chronology of the Catedral de San Jose

1751:  A small chapel dedicated to the patron saint Joseph (San Jose)
was built
1776:  The chapel evolved into a parish church which was moved to the
present site of the Cathedral (1)
1821: Earthquake destroys the church (2)
1827: Church is rebuilt
1850: Church established as a Cathedral (3)
1851: Restoration of Cathedral begins with the arrival of Archbishop
Llorente (4)
1871:  Completion of current structure designed by Eusebio Rodriguez

1983: Pope John Paul II visits Cathedral (3)
2001: Contract with North American Jason Alden to restore Cathedral
