Hi everyone…

OK, I feel this is somewhat easy but I am puzzled about where & how to
look for it…..

I am looking for payment collection companies outside North America. I
have some products that are demanded in Europe & Asia, and want to
find a way to collect payments from customers through one/more
method(s) such as (1) Credit Card (physical, not online), (2) Cash, or
(3) by Check. In this scenario, I would ship my product to them, and
they would go to customer to collect the payment via CC authorization
machine, by collecting cash/check; and then transfer the back the
amounts periodically after deducting their commission.

The problem is that as soon as I use the word “Collection”, I end up
with debt collection agencies. One company that I found – however –
is www.GlobalCollect.com. If it would help, I am trying to find
companies who do that in Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong,
South Africa, & UK.

Hello, Octopia, sorry if I took too long before asking this.
This is a bit unclear to me: "I would ship my product to them..." Do
you mean "them" as the collection companies, or the customers? If it
means the companies, do you expect the collection companies to handle
sales or deliver the product to your customer as well? Thanks.

Hi techtor. No problem, the same thing is sometimes confusing to me
too…

To make it simple it is really a straightforward operation. The
following steps might help to understand it:
·	Sales are closed through a my call center (CallC)
·	CallC sends the warehouse a shipping order.
·	Warehouse ships the product via an express delivery service
(Courier)
·	Courier delivers the shipment to their own the destination station
(e.g., Courier’s station in Malaysia), and holds it there for payment
confirmation.
·	Collection partner (CPrt) is updated that the shipment has arrived,
and they contact the customer to set up a time for delivery &
Collection.
·	Once payment is ready, CPrt updates the Courier and either CPrt
completes the delivery in exchange for the payment, or the Courier
delivers for them once they tell Courier that the payment is secured.

So, it’s basically a CPrt that has the local presence and local
payment facilities in target countries to handle this. Hope that
helped….

Hello after a while ;).

I happened upon a company called Worldpay.
http://www.worldpay.com

This might suit your needs. I'll check for more.

By the way, do tell me if Worldpay is the kind of service that you are looking for.

Clarification of Question by octopia-ga on 08 Feb 2003 08:29 PST
Hi Techtor,

Thanks for following up and sorry for being late with the answer.

I tried WorldPay and it seems pretty exciting, especially the
WordAccess, where they say:

“Offline Sales: if your business only has offline outlets accepting
payments by fax, phone or post, WorldAccess provides an online
solution for payment processing. In a Call Centre, for example, each
representative uses WorldAccess to enter customer payment/card
details. “

Problem started when I tried to sign up, however. They have add
several bottlenecks on which banks you should have your account with,
where you should be located, and the payment systems that they are
compatible with. So, in theory that is very close to what I am looking
for, but I was wondering if there are service to go physically and
handle the collection. I know that GlobalCollect is one of the
subsidiaries of TNT (tnt.com), and maybe that’s how they could manage
physical collection. Tell you what, why not try from the Courier’s
side, many express couriers have logistics/collection solutions that
might be relevant. I am going to do some homework too, and let’s
compare results.

All the best, techtor…..

I see. When it comes to some countries, I think banks are used as the
physical collection agents. But you're probably right about courier
companies. Would you accept companies that use payment centers
(whether their own payment centers or hired associate outlets)? That's
just a possibility. OK, let's both look around and compare results
later on. :)

Hello again. Sorry I've been gone quite long (you too I guess ;) ),
I've been busy with other things as well as researching on your
question. I've had no luck in searching for couriers or other
door-to-door payment collectors that can collect for merchants. I only
found courier companies that collect your mail or package and your
payment for it, but not payment for your product. As Easterangel
indicated, online payment companies are the most easily found, which
would also be called merchant payment solutions. I'll continue to
search... perhaps Blueskye's suggestion is the most feasible for the
meantime.

About payment centers, one example I could think of is our own Bayad
center in the Philippines.

I wonder if you're willing to consider this kind of solution.

How's things at your end?

Hello Octopia,

Since your question is about to expire, I'd like to take a shot at it.

Wouldn't it be nice if you let your customers pay through check where
they are and you encash it where you are -- all done electronically
with the use of your computer and printer?

I found this site which could provide the solution for your
requirement. ChecksNet Professional Software lets you collect money by
phone, fax, email or website without expenses or payment delays of
credit cards or electronic transfers. Banks and businesses prefer ease
of use & collection tools that NO OTHER SOFTWARE includes. Based on
the website, ChecksNet Professional Software is rated #1 by the
National Business Bureau. Again, since I have no capability to make
international inquiries by phone, you can try checking it out at:

Checksnet.com
ChecksNet Professional Software
http://www.checksnet.com/main.htm

Contact:
Sales @: (702) 568-6207

Please let me know what you think. For the meantime, I'll try to
search for other solutions than can help you.

Best regards,
Feilong

By the way Octopia, I also found a company who can make collections
from the countries you mentioned namely: Malaysia, Australia,
Singapore, Hong Kong,
South Africa, and the UK.

Since your question is about to expire in a couple of days, I want to
know your reaction from the link I gave you for this particular query.
I also found other possible solutions so like your other question I
answered, I'll wait for the green light from you. Thank you.

Hi Fielong & Techtor..

Thanks for giving it a shot at my question, and sorry for being quiet
all this time.

1-	Courier who accept cash/other payment: This is a very valid
solution. All that I need to do is switch couriers and it will solve
the problem.
2-	E-Checks: Fascinating idea, and yes it make things easier. I looked
into it but found that it is good if in the North American markets
only. The problem is that international checks will take around 28
days to clear.
3-	Green Light: You have my green light, Fielong, for the collection
company. This is exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks….

Let me make it clear that the company that I intend to refer is under
the category of debt collection. Is this okay for you? Perhaps you
would like to see it first:

TCM Group International, Ltd.
http://www.tcmgroup.com/group/index.cfm

Contact info:
TCM Group International, Ltd.
Brusselsesteenweg 6-16
3020 Herent-Belgium
Tel. +32 16 23 99 30
Fax +32 16 29 95 88
E-mail: info@tcmgroup.com

You are correct that when you use the word collection, debt collection
agencies are often on the top of the list. If the company above suits
your needs, I'm going to give you an answer with companies/solutions
that can help to you.

Best regards,
Feilong

Hi Fielong & Techtor...

Well, that's the problem. I guess most of the people use credit card
for payment now. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to know more about the other
collection-based couriers. Debt Collection does not exactly fit here,
it is whole different ball game. Anyway, please let me know what you
think.

Thanks

Hi again Octopia,
Feilong and I both searched on your question in the past days, but
still we could not find any company that fits your requirements. If
there are such companies existing, we certainly could not find them on
the Internet. They may have to be found via a visit to the countries
you seek to do business in. Sorry we could not be of any further help.

Instead of looking for collection services, look for TREASURY
services. That's what banks call the service that involves collecting
and distributing funds.
