I want links to all the studies/statistics/reports quoted in this
article. ALL of them. If you e-mail the author and ask him, you can
do that too. If searches work, that's fine. Thanks!

Hello x2zzz:

I have sent an email to the creators of the study whose statistics are
quoted in the article you pointed to. I will let you know when I hear
back from them.

Thanks.

One study produced all those statistics??

Hi x2zzz:

My research so far has shown that one study produced almost all of the
statistics in that article. I have already got the official releases
for that study.

However, I am still waiting on the source for the last two numbers in
the story that are not included in the main study. Should have those
shortly.

Hi x2zzz:

As hinted to in the article, the majority of statistics quoted come
from the "Verizon SuperPages.com 4th Annual Small Business Internet
Survey". I was not able to find the complete results of this report
online, but was able to find a contact name at Verizon, whom I wrote
to. She sent me three press releases that present the results of the
survey in more detail - and also provide data about how the survey was
conducted.

The two most relevant docuements are:

Small Businesses Commit ’03 Funds to Internet Activities Despite
Economic Slump
http://www.lucidmatrix.com/uploads/LH-release.doc

How Small Businesses Really Use the Internet
http://www.lucidmatrix.com/uploads/usage_LH.doc

Another document which they provided has to do with gender usage:

Closing in on the Gender Divide
http://www.lucidmatrix.com/uploads/gender_LH.doc

The only remaining statistic in the article that is not explained is:

"Verizon told me that the average amount spent building a website is
$700, with another $100 a month spent on maintenance."

I am currently requesting the source of this data as well and will
post it here as soon as I get it.

addresses for the next 30 days only - so please grab them and put them

Hi x2zzz:

Thanks for the great comment and rating. :-)

I just heard back from my source at Verizon, and she said:

*********************
This information is from the survey. But it is: on average small businesses
spend $500 to build a web site and an average of $100 for maintenance.
*********************

So, the article author misquoted the numbers slightly. ;-)
