ESS Technology notes the following on their Tech Support page:

"Welcome to the ESS Technology help desk. We are here to be
a second source of support in the event the manufacturer of
your product is unavailable. In all cases, it is best that
you contact your manufacturer for technical assistance or
 updated drivers."

"ESS Technology produces integrated circuits (chips) for
manufacturers of personal computer and consumer electronics.
The generic software drivers that we offer on this site are
for personal computer implementations of our audio and
 communication chips."

"It is always preferable to use the driver intended for
your specific card. Please contact the manufacturer of
your sound card or modem for their latest version. To
download and install the generic software driver from
this website, you must have the exact ESS Technology
chip ID and be running Windows OS. Please be sure to
read our FAQ before downloading and installing any drivers."

Their FAQ page is here:
http://www.esstech.com/techsupp/faq.shtm

A link to pdf file for the ESS2846 is on this page:
http://www.esstech.com/products/comm/communications.shtm

And the driver download page is here:
http://www.esstech.com/techsupp/drivers.shtm

However drivers for the ESS2846 are not among the downloads.
And, they note, again:

"ESS Technology manufactures only the audio or modem chip(s)
used by the manufacturer of your sound or modem card. You
should always use the latest driver from that manufacturer.
ESS Technology provides the generic drivers at this site
just in case you are unable to contact the manufacturer of
your specific board. Although these drivers should work in
all implementations, ESS Technology cannot guarantee their
operability with any specific card. If you need help in
determining your card’s manufacturer, please read our FAQ."

From all of this, I would surmise that you are using a
network adapter which utilizes the ESS ES2846 chip,
however the manufacturer of the card is other than ESS.
You will need to provide the name of the manufacturer.
