Hi there,

There are several ways to obtain a copy of your Maryland driving
record, as detailed at the Maryland DMV website:

1. You can request your driving record online, pay the required fee
using either MasterCard, Visa, or an electronic check and it will be
mailed to the address on record at the MVA, or

2. You can fill out an MVA "Request for Record" (form #DR-057) at any
MVA branch office when you present valid identificiaton and pay the
required fee, or

3. You may also download the "Request for Record" (form #DR-057) and
submit the form and required fee by mail

To order your driving record online, visit this page:
https://secure.marylandmva.com/eMVAServices/OnlineServ/VRR/DrRecord_Entry.asp?sku=drrecord

To get a copy of form #DR-057, follow this link:
http://www.marylandmva.com/OnlineServ/DOCS/default.htm#DR-057

Information on the driving record can include speeding or other moving
violations, chargeable accidents, DUIs, suspension or revocations and
accumulation of points.

Insurance companies get details of any claims you have made from the
Insurance Services Office (ISO), who maintain a huge database of
claims made. ChoicePoint sell this information - it is called a called
CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report.

"You can get a copy of the ChoicePoint CLUE report by calling
ChoicePoint's Consumer Disclosure Center at (770) 752-6000. The report
will cost between $8 and $10, depending on how the consumer wants the
information, says Wheeler of ChoicePoint."

Choicepoint cannot provide any information about insurance claims
unless the insurance company has searched your record and you need
some kind of number from the insurance company to get access to your
own record. Is there any other source to get your own information
without going to an insurance company first?

I'm sorry, but I could not find another service which offers insurance
claims history reports.

Did you try to order a report from ChoicePoint, or does their website
mention the conditions you describe?

Everything I read there suggests you can get access to exactly the
same information as the insurance companies, and that the information
is updated monthly.

"C.L.U.E., the Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange, is a claim
history information exchange developed by ChoicePoint. It enables
insurance companies to access and use prior claim information in the
underwriting process. Each month, participating insurers submit claims
information to the C.L.U.E. information exchange, which is loaded to
the C.L.U.E. database. Subsequently,
insurance companies request this data by forwarding search criteria
such as an insurance applicant's name, date of birth, and driver's
license number. The C.L.U.E. system searches its database for
information that matches the requested search criteria. A C.L.U.E.
report is then generated and forwarded to the insurer. When you or
your insurance company receive a C.L.U.E. report, it includes all
claims accessed by the search criteria which were reported to us
within five years of the date of the request."
