You might check out Abatus Mirror Server:

http://www.abatus.com/en/pro/ams/index.htm

"AMS is a RAID #1 software-only implementation.
It does not need a second disk controller or any
special hardware configuration. You can think of
it as a real-time data backup or synchronizer. It
runs in the background, to monitor an entire drive
or folder (and its subfolders) and maintains an
exact image of it. AMS easy of use, speed and
transparency of operation are simply unparalleled."

Free 30 day evaluation period and then $49 to buy
a full activation.

Yea, there are a few of these real-time backup solutions, but they are
not ideal. Abatus only backs up folders on your drive, rather than
keeping a mirror image of the drive itself. So, if your main drive
fails, you might have an inconsitant view of the data and you'll still
have to rebuild a new drive with all the non-file based info you lost
(i.e. the OS, the registry, etc.).

thanks.

Here's a link about Software RAID on WinXP:
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/WinXP/Q_20404593.html

and this is the closest thing I can find to what you want. It doesn't
look too promising, however.

In order to use the RAID on Native to WinXP Pro. You need to upgrade
the disks to Dynamic. You can do this by:

right-Click My Computer
Click Manage
Browse to Disk management
Right Click the drive where it says Drive 0/Drive 1
Then click on upgrade drive to dynamic

You should be able to use the native RAID at that point.

Unfortunetly, native RAID mirroring has been intentionally disabled in
WinXP Pro by Microsoft. They only let you do RAID levels that do *not*
provide redundncy. Sad.
