Why cant I comment till question is answered by GOOGLE-ANSWERS
researcher??

I would have liked to make comment to David who was making the point
about MISSY-GA being a very fine researcher as I was thinking the same
thing myslf but find that the system does not allow for this,
apparently because researcher gets first crack at question yes??no??

Also would have like to comment on comments made by person suggesting
new ideas to improve GOOGLE-ANSWERS as he has in fact specified
"COMMENTS only" but again I was disappointed and obviouisly he will be
as well as he also thinks COMMENTS can be made at any time!!

When Questions are locked by a Researcher, no one else is allowed to
post anything until the Researcher either posts an Answer or releases
the lock. This is done as a courtesy to the Researcher so that he/she
knows everything that has been posted. For further information, see
the Google Answers FAQ:

Long time back and I must have forgotten to rate answer. I now
understand the system better and would not have needed the question
answered now. However it was answered properaly so must rate as five
stars as nothing further could have been added to enhance answer as it
was a simply black or white question

Please tell me that this person wasn't charged the $4.00 for this answer.

John - it is kind of annoying that you can't even comment while
someone is answering. And I have a feeling that google has been
locking people out of some of the questions (such as this one), though
i am surprised right now that I am able to reply as THIS question, and
similar ones, have been busy all morning.

I too have enjoyed Missy's answers. She adds a little human
(emotional) touch when she provides an answer. The "excited or
relaxed" answer(https://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=13809)
is a good example of that trait.

I hope Google changes the feedback link (answers-editors@google.com)
so that it can be used for both negitive AND POSITIVE comments on
answers.

Also, I know that providing personal information is against TOS but
would it be okay for Missy to state her occupation if she chooses. I
wonder if she is a librarian?

I would say it's to prevent it from appearing as though someone posted
an answer as a comment, then a researcher "stole" that answer and
posted it with a later timestamp. This way, it's clear what
information the researcher did and didn't have access to when
answering the question.

So if someone posts the answer in a comment, the researcher isn't
allowed to take that material? I thought the guidelines stated the
researcher can use any available resources necessary to answer the
question.

If someone that's not researcher-approved decides to take all that
time and answer the question for free, that's not the researcher's
problem. They should learn their lesson, get approved, and then earn
some money for their effort.

Personally I like the idea that people are asking stupid questions
(either FAQ-listed ones, or stuff like "Should I eat breakfast this
morning?") and are paying for the privledge. Economic Darwinism!

Now I understand GOOGLE. Now I see that I can make any comment I like
before question has been answered as long as reseracher has not locked
the question up.
I know this as I just made two comments to a question that still has
no answer.

If I can do this however it would still seem to cut out your moral
argument that researcher deserves the courtesy of no comments till
they have had the opportunity to provide an answer.

P.S I commented on the "specific Books" question which now has two
comments but no answer.

These days, a question can be clarified even when there's a lock.
