Hi,

I'm looking for a 5 year journal that I can purchase online. A five
year journal is a journal that has multiple entries for the 5 years so
that as you fill out the journal, you can see exactly what you wrote
down on the exact date 1, 2, 3, etc years ago. I don't want one with
all the inspirational quotes and prompts such as the one I was able to
find online myself (Doreene Clements' 5 year journal.) I remember
Levenger used to carry a leather bound 5 year journal but it has since
been discontinued. So basically I'm looking for a simple 5 year
journal.

Hi.

Do you have any specific requirements for what's in the journal? IE,
do you want it to have blank fields such as "Date: ________", or does
a blank journal with enough room for 5 years of entries sufficient?

No, I'm not looking for a blank journal. What I'm looking for is that
each page has room for same-date entries for five consecutive years.
So it's kind of divided into partitions so that you can summarize the
day's events into just a few sentences or words and then reflect on
what happened years ago on that same date. So yeah, it would kind of
look like Date: ________, followed by a few lines, and then repeated 4
more times on that same page.

Sorry, Posted this as a comment... Does it have to be exactly 5 years?
I have found some sources for you with exactly the sort of thing you
are after, but they are all 10 year journals. Is this acceptable?

I was hoping to find a 5 year journal, but if not exactly 5 years, a
10 year journal would be fine. Bring on the sources!

Hi,

I located a 10 year journal for you, and managed to find it at a few
different sources. One of which was Amazon, which has the best price
also from what I could find. Please see the product page here:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0965265250/artshonewyorkonl/002-3753740-4949653

Not satisfied with that, I kept searching - and tracked down a journal
supplier in the UK which stocks the 5 year journal. Their description
was poor, but I wrote to them and they wrote back and confirmed that
the journal is exactly as you described above. It also comes in a
variety of colours and bindings! Here's the link for the blue one at
their online store...

It took a lot of tracking down, but I hope this serves your journal
requirements! Sorry for the delay, I really wanted to hear back from
city office before giving you the 10 year links...

Happy journaling

Molloch

Thank you! And thanks for all the comments too! I bought both the 10
yr and the 5 yr journal, one I'm keeping for myself and the other one
is a gift. Again, thanks!

Does it need to specifically be 5 years? Would more (ie 10) be acceptable?

I use a 10-year version for each of my children. Strangely, it's
called a 10-year journal, but it has space for 11 years. (The only
5-year version I can find is the one you don't like - the Doreen
Clements one, so I'll describe mine here, instead, as you did say
you'd like info on other lengths.)

The one I use has no annoying little messages at all - it's just got
dates, etc. It does have "looking ahead" pages, with goals and
year-end review sections, but absolutely nothing "targeted". (I've
included the Amazon link and another online store below - the Amazon
link may wrap, as it's long - you might have to cut and paste.)

10-year version: (Dated 2002-2012) - older versions are also
available. They're around $45.

(Or, just go to Amazon and search on "Masayo Koshiyama" - the
"author". I'm not sure exactly what an author of a journal like this
does, but there you go...)

Half.com also has them.

The ones I have were published by: Because Time Flies, Inc.

I've found the publisher's address at:
http://www.combinedbook.com/london2001/because.html

and there's another online company selling them at:
http://www.addall.com/Browse/Detail/0965265269.html

This link also has a "search other bookstores" link so you can shop
around if you'd like. That's how I found the Amazon link - I didn't
think they carried them until I did a search here.

They're around $45.

You may want to have a custom designed notebook (call it a journal if
you wish). For years, I used a laboratory notebook as a
journal/diary/brainjogger. Although I have no first hand knowledge of
the quantity of books you would have to order, the following website
offers "custom" design of laboratory notebooks..If you need someone to
go in on an order to get what you want, I'd be interested in your five
year design.

There are plenty of different versions of what you want, but they are
more normally listed as a "five year diary" rather than a five year
journal. You didn't say where you live but I suspect you're on the
other side of the Atlantic from me. I think you could just phone
around your stationery stores or bookshops and ask them what they have
- if they don't have anything in stock they can certainly show you
catalogs with them in and order one for you - this isn't that unusual
a thing so shouldn't be too difficult to get.

And once you get it make sure you fill it and don't stop writing in it
- my entries would largely consist of "Got up and had a cup of tea" -
make sure you do better than that!

When glyn made the comment about the diary, another search ensued
resulting in the following:
       http://www.hilary.com/reviews/smythson.html

Quote:
"Five Year Diary
When we took a look at this luxurious book, the word 'heirloom' came
to mind. The Smythson five year diary is bound in black goatskin
leather with silk endpaper edged with gold. We got the impression that
this book might not only last five years, but fifty! Each thick, white
page has a date at the top and is feint ruled with 5 heavier lines to
divide the pages for 5 years of memoirs. So the next time you wonder
what you were doing this time last year--or five years ago--now you
can have the answer!"

Low and behold Smythson has a website (not very detailed)
       http://www.smythson.com/usa/index.html

Quote:
" Smythson Diaries

Frank Smythson introduced the first pocket diary in 1892, and since
then the Smythson range has expanded to include over 20 different
diary formats including day-per-page, week-to-view and month-to-view
in a variety of different sizes, designs and papers.

All Smythson diaries are hand bound in the highest quality exclusive
leathers and feature Smythson watermarked papers.

Only a limited range of diaries are still available for 2002. Please
contact Smythson by Post on 1-877-769-8476 or mailorder@smythson.com
for details."

The only problem with this comment/answre to your request is the fact
that Smythson of Bond Street sounds expensive...but...when you figure
the price per day over five years....OK...
