Hello Markr-ga,

Thank you for your question.

I located two sources with data that show which coffee cups keeps
coffee hot the longest. The first source is more detailed and provides
downloadable raw data to support its findings. The second source is an
experiment where similar results were obtained.

============================================

Which cup keeps your coffee hot the longest?

“The same amount (100 cm3) of hot water was placed into three
different types of coffee cup: a bone china cup; a paper cup (with
plastic lid); and a polystyrene cup (also with a plastic lid). A
temperature sensor was placed in each cup and the data-logger began to
record the temperatures.”

According to the graph, the polystyrene cup kept the coffee hot the
longest.

FINDING THE BEST INSULATING CUP

The purpose of this experiment was to determine what type of material
(from aluminum, ceramic, Styrofoam and glass) keeps an average amount
of coffee hot for the longest.

Result:
The Styrofoam cup kept the coffee hot right from the beginning, when
the other materials lost a lot of the heat. Note that the ceramic has
the coldest coffee at 15 minutes.
