Question ID: 15331
I remember the opening lines of a song, something like

"think about the times that we sat on the banks by the river,
********* words had no meaning".

I keep thinking the group may have had the word Andromeda in their
name.

anyway, would love to trace this track, its from 30 years ago I'm
afraid.

Hey there,

Would you recognize the band name if you heard it? Your 30 year range
and general lyrical vibe makes it sound like it just might be a
psychedelic band called Felius Andromeda who was a one-hit wonder back
in the UK. They produced one single with a song called Meditations on
the flip side of Cheadle Heath Delusions. I'm having a tough time
tracking down lyrics. My clarifying question is, could the song have
been a psychedelic song, or is that genre all wrong?

I doubt whether it was psychedelic. It probably was some soft soppy
hippy tune thinking back to how i was in those days. I dont recognise
the band name you mention. there was a group called Andromeda's Child,
possibly them. The words I mention were the opening lines.

wish you luck as I am keen to know!

Do you recall if the lead singer was male or female? Also, do you
recall any other songs around the same period?

Hi, Michael -
Here's a web site you could try.
http://www.wanderers.com/wanderer/trivia/? It's a golden oldies site
& has a place to post trivia
questions about music from the 50's and 60's. If that's too early,
I'm sure there are other sites for music from the 70's. Good luck.

I didn't have time to sign up to offically provide the answer, but I
believe what you are looking for can be found in a UK "Definitive
Collection" re-release which is available at amazon.com. See
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00003ZKSJ/ref=m_art_li_3/102-7755265-9739363

This answer is based on the band name and it just seems to fit the
description and I hope it is what you are looking for. In the future,
if you are have the same types of question (trying to find or remember
a song), here is some tips on how to find the answer.

First and formost, Joel Whitburn is THE leading pop music athority in
the world, and his reference books are actually quite good reading.
His books and site is at http://www.recordresearch.com/ and his
quality links are at http://www.recordresearch.com/links.html I own a
few of his books, and highly reccomend them; they are a must own item
for any serious music collector (or DJ as I once was).

Bilboard's custom research department will also often help you find
the answers you are looking for, for a fee of course.
http://www.billboard.com/billboard/research/index.jsp

Online commercial vendors have become invaluable in searching for rare
items, and keeping a full database alive. I searched ebay.com,
amazon.com, cdnow.com and cduniverse.com

Also, it never hurts to call up your local radio station. However,
due to an incliment business climate in radio, there are percious few
radio stations with live, local DJs anymore. None the less, the
program director or music director maybe able to refer you to some one
who does know the answer - and it's free to call.

Lastly, there are quite a bit of lyric search engines available on the
web; see google's good summary of them at ...
http://directory.google.com/Top/Arts/Music/Lyrics/Lyrics_Search_Engines/?tc=1

Of the few lyric searches I did, I had little luck. Perhaps this link
is close - http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/SongUnid/08CEB28AC8CA09684825686D00326A7C

I hope this helps you out.

It isn't David DiGiuseppe's album "South of Andromeda"? That is more
celtic than anything...

Here is a link to his home page:

i came across this discussion while looking for something else

if it's not too late or superfluous, then the band in question was probably
