For Texas residents, presently qualified for Medicare, what are the rules concerning Medicare/Medicaid payments to cover the nusing home care for one of the spouses who needs long-term care for a physical/mental disaability? Are there any specific requirements as to maximum income, maximum assets, etc.? Would payment be disqualified if current annual income was approximately $45,000 which represented Social Security of $22,000 Pensions and dividends of $18,000 and rental income of $5,000. Would payment be disqualified if assets, excluding personal residence, were approximately $400,000 which was represented by common stock, mutual funds and similar investments. |
