Hello,

every time I open Microsoft Word I get:

Microsoft Visual Basic

Run-time error
'-2147467259 (80004005)':

Automation error

Please help me get rid of it. I've tried "Detect and Repair" on the
help menu in Word (which never seems to work on anything) and I've
tried reinstalling Word.

I have Word 2000 (part of Office 2000) on Win98.

Thanks.

esarkissian,

Thanks for your question. In researching your question, I came across
other people who have had the same issue with Word 2000. Here is a
response from Microsoft:

"It sounds like a macro error in a global template or add-in. Go to
Tools/Templates and Add-Ins and see if there are any global templates
or
add-ins listed. If so they are located in your Word\Startup folder. If
more
than one, move them one at a time until you determine which one is
causing
the problem. The location of the Word\Startup folder can be found
under
Tools/Options/File Locations.

Word 2000 can have COM add-ins, those that are added in via the
Registry
rather than the Word\Startup folder. To determine this, add
the COM Add-In command to your toolbar.

- Right-click any toolbar and select Customize
- On the Commands tab, select the Tools category
- Locate COM Add-Ins on the right
- Drag/Drop to a location of your choice

Yep, that did it! There was some file in the add-ons called
"hpmsp1ia.dot". Looks like it may have had something to do with HP
scanning or something.
Thanks!
