Hi! Thanks for the question. The PBS website has a good article on the decision process involved at the US Supreme Court. "After the high court's nine justices hear oral arguments, the decision process begins behind the closed doors of the Supreme Court conference rooms." "Only justices attend these closed meetings, and the most junior justice will send for needed materials and take notes as necessary." "After voting, the most senior justice in the majority is responsible for deciding who will write the court's opinion while the most senior justice on the minority side will also assign the dissent writer." Only the majority opinion will represent the true decision of the court. "THE DECISION PROCESS" http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/law/supreme_court/history_process.html You can also read in the next link also from the PBS website on how the Supreme Court screens and hears the cases that come their way. "CHOOSING AND HEARING CASES" http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/law/supreme_court/history_cases.html It would also be helpful to read the following document on Supreme Court Procedures coming from the official US Supreme Court website. "The Court and Its Procedures" http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/14mar20010800/www.supremecourtus.gov/about/procedures.pdf Search terms used: "supreme court" decision process I hope these links would help you in your research.
