Dear eddiem-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question.

Having lived near a thoroughbred racing track my whole life and having
visited many others, I can tell you that the name of the person who
takes the money at the ticket window varies from region to region (and
varies even greater perhaps from one country to another). In Arkansas
these employees are called “CASHIERS”, while in other places they are
known by a number of different names such as: TICKET SELLERS,
PARAMUTUEL CLERKS, TICKET ATTENDANTS, TICKET VENDORS, CLERKS, TICKET
CLERK, WINDOW CLERK depending on where you are. It is my personal
experience that the common title “clerk” and “cashier” are used with
equal frequency in the US as the name for this job.

If you require a definitive answer, consider what the government does.
For census purposes, the US Census Bureau’s Classified Index of
Occupations lists this position as “Gaming Service Worker”, and makes
no discrimination between dealers in a casino or a clerk at some other
gaming venue.

Below you will find that I have carefully defined my search strategy
for you in the event that you need to search for more information. By
following the same type of searches that I did you may be able to
enhance the research I have provided even further. I hope you find
that that my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any
questions about my research please post a clarification request prior
to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating and your final
comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near
future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.

Best regards;
Tutuzdad-ga

As I mentioned, the names differ from region to region. I may have
misunderstood your seemingly straightforward question. I was not aware
that the purpose of your question was to see if a researcher could
find out what these cashiers are called in "your" area. Had you
clearly indicated that at the outset I would certainly have provided
you with a five star answer.

I come from New Jersey originally and there is another name for this
job. I will have to ask some old friends if they remember the term.
Thanks for your help anyway.
