I have a United Airlines VISA credit card. I am buying a house and
the loan will likely be through Chase. I would like to make my
mortgage payments via my Visa so I can build airline mileage points.
I am Premier on United so there is no limit of how many points I can
earn.

How can I find out if this will be accomodated by Chase?

There was an excellent article on this topic in the Wall Street
Journal, approximately 6 months ago, but I cannot find this article.

I would appreciate advice on this.

Hi Gordonc,

If you could clarify a few things, it would help the Researchers be
able to better answer your question. First, what is the issuing bank
of your Visa card? Many airlines have cooperative arrangements with
banks for awarding miles for purchases, but it's still the banks who
issue the cards. You should be able to find out by looking at one of
your statements or calling the customer service number. Second, I'm
not sure it's critical, but it would be helpful to know what state
you're in as well. Are you financing through a local branch of Chase
Manhattan Bank? Thirdly, do you require a link to the full text of
the Wall Street Journal article you mention? And finally, would you be
satisfied with general knowledge and advice about obtaining (or how to
obtain) airline miles for your mortgage payments, or do you need a
definitive answer to your particular situation?

Regards,

Well, my mortgage is held by Chase, so I logged in to
  http://chaseonline.chase.com/
with my user ID and password and looked around to see whether I could
get my mortgage payment charged to a credit card. Sorry, but I can't
see such an option. I see several programs in which Chase is happy to
hit up your checking account for the amount of the payment, but that's
it. I guess if I were Chase I'd set things up the same way. Why pay a
middleman?

What about paying your mortgage in cash which you obtain through a
cash advance using your airmile card? Or the idea offered at

http://miles.hotdealz.com/air_miles2-all.html

which would utilize a Citi Cash Card:
